Established in 2000 by Begum Farrukh Mukhtar in memory of her late husband Mian Mukhtar Ahmad, the Mian Mukhtar A. Sheikh Trust (MAST) is Fatima Group’s primary expression of its commitment to community welfare. Registered under the Trust Act 1882 and certified by the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy, MAST operates hospitals, clinics, dispensaries, schools, and vocational training centres across Multan and South Punjab, serving hundreds of thousands of individuals each year. At Fatima Group, we believe sustainable enterprise carries a responsibility to give back, and MAST is how we honour that responsibility, through permanent institutions that communities can rely on, year after year.
Healthcare
MAST’s healthcare network addresses everything from routine primary care to specialist mental health services.
The Mukhtar A. Sheikh Memorial Welfare Hospital (MASH) brings internationally benchmarked, patient-centred care to Southern Punjab, with a dedicated welfare program ensuring quality treatment remains accessible regardless of a patient’s means.
The Spring Clinic – Institute of Psychiatry, established in 2016, is one of the region’s few dedicated outpatient mental health facilities. It offers consultations in psychiatry, psychology, and speech therapy, and recorded over 15,500 consultations in 2023–24 alone, a 20% increase over the previous year. Spring Clinic’s work goes beyond treatment, actively raising awareness and working to reduce the stigma that prevents so many from seeking help.
Community Healthcare
Three Farrukh Mukhtar General Dispensaries in Samorana, Madni, and Gulshan serve between 300 and 350 patients daily, providing consultations, free medicines, maternal health services, and basic diagnostics for a nominal fee of Rs. 70. Over 100,000 patients are being treated yearly. MAST has also launched the APWA Mobile Dispensary to extend healthcare access to communities beyond the reach of fixed facilities.

Education
MAST’s education programs are built around a single conviction: that girls and young women from underprivileged backgrounds deserve access to knowledge and skills that open doors.
Farrukh Mukhtar Girls High School and College in Samorana provides quality secondary education from Grade 6 to Grade 12, affiliated with BISE Multan. Fees are kept affordable, free places are available, and admissions are merit-based. Enrolment has grown from 67 students in 2019 to 204 in 2024, a threefold increase in five years.
Women’s Empowerment
Three Farrukh Mukhtar Vocational Education Centers in Gulshan and Samorana offer accredited diploma courses in Domestic Tailoring, Beautician, and Cooking & Baking. Registered with Punjab Skills Development Authority and affiliated with the Punjab Board of Technical Education, the centers trained 408 women in 2024. Graduates have gone on to open home salons, tailoring businesses, and bakeries, moving from dependency to financial independence and, in many cases, becoming breadwinners for their families.

Other Initiatives
Beyond its core programmes, MAST supports community well-being through the management of water filtration plants across Multan and the promotion of mental health awareness initiatives. The Trust remains committed to expanding its impact through sustainable programmes that improve the quality of life for underserved communities.
Governance
MAST is governed by an experienced Board of Trustees led by Chief Trustee Begum Farrukh Mukhtar, a former member of the National Assembly of Pakistan. The Trust holds PCP certification, is registered with the Punjab Charity Commission, and is approved as an NPO by the Federal Board of Revenue. Financial statements are independently audited annually, reflecting MAST’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
